Ahh, toast. One of those things you just can’t go wrong with.
My usual toast phase goes something like this – don’t eat toast for around 6 months, then randomly eat one slice in the afternoon, and after that I’ll eat 15 slices in a week. Rinse and repeat.
We asked our awesome social media community what they put on top of their hot, crunchy bread and had a discussion here at foodenvee HQ.
So five of our team members have shared their favourite, personal choices. There’s a mix of classic and more unusual choices on the list – but what have we missed?
Let us know your favourites over on our Facebook or Instagram posts. We’ve already seen some ideas we have never considered – such as hot sauce or cinnamon and icing sugar! We’ll put out a list of your top choices soon!

5. Avocado & Egg
Sammy’s is a PRIME millennial toast topping. The ever so popular avocado (technically guac, but who’s asking) and poached egg. Instagram influencers all over the world smash this down every morning.. at least that’s what their IG stories seem to tell us!
4. Peanut Butter & Flaky Salt
Oh Reuben, the most Gen-Z Millennial you’ll ever meet. His favourite toast topping is some classic peanut butter, but mixed with flaky salt on top (note the importance of flaky salt). It’s a little bit too salty for my liking, but y’know, whatever floats your boat I guess.
My personal favourite and overall British classic, beans on toast. You just cannot beat a good ol’ bit of beans on toast. High in nutrients, low in calories. Sprinkle a bit of cheese on top. MUAH! Perfection on a plate. (Jac is also Mr Bland – Ed)
2. Tuna & Cheese
Now I have to admit, this one is a little bit odd. I was heavily questioning it until I actually tried some, but then I understood. Gilly’s “classic” of tuna and grilled cheese. Oh my word. A combination that SHOULDN’T work on toast, but for some reason works so so well.
1. Salmon, Egg and Garlic Mushrooms
Matt’s favourite is the definition of boujee. Salmon, scrambled egg and creamy garlic mushrooms.. if that doesn’t scream “I got an A* in food tech” then I don’t know what does! It is a winning combination though, even I have to admit that, and I HATE mushrooms.
